Sony A7Riii Full Frame Digital Camera – RRP $3,999.00
This professional grade camera is a 42 megapixel beast. What does 42 megapixel mean? It means the camera can capture an insane amount of detail! The image sensor in most full frame cameras is usually only 24 megapixels. This allows you to crop into a photo whilst still maintaining a good level of detail.
Tamron 28-75MM F2.8 – RRP $1,199.00
For those unfamiliar with photography terminology, ’28-75mm’ signifies the focal length of the lens. A lower number equals a wider angle of view, and conversely a higher number equals a narrower angle of view (i.e. more zoomed in). To put things in perspective, the human eye sees the world roughly in the equivalent of a 35mm to a 50mm focal length.
This type of lens is considered the Event Photographer’s workhorse. Offering the ability to go from an wide angle to telephoto with a twist of the lens. The constant F2.8 aperture allows for decent performance in low light situations and the ability to have a nice out-of-focus background (“bokeh”).
Sony Zeiss Batis 85mm F1.8 – RRP $1,599.00
Whilst the 24-70mm is a zoom lens, this 85mm lens has a fixed focal length and is referred to as a “prime lens”. Compared to zoom lenses, prime lenses are able to have less glass inside the lens, which can result in higher image quality. They also often have a wider aperture, with this lens in particular going as wide as F1.8.
The wide F1.8 aperture allows for good low light performance and the ability to really throw the background out of focus.
Sony Zeiss Batis 18mm F2.8 – RRP $1,899.00
Ultra wide angle lenses typically aren’t a good choice for photographing people, as they provide a distorted view which can be unflattering (particularly if people are at the edge of the frame), but sometimes you just want to fit EVERYTHING into a picture. The Batis 18mm lens allows for just that.
Godox TT685S Flash
Having a flash on hand is a must. Sometimes you need to take control of the lighting. The Godox flash accessories perform excellently.
Godox X1Ts Flash Trigger
Having a flash mounted on-top of the camera and blasting people straight on with a burst of light isn’t always the best option. Using a wireless flash trigger allows for more control when lighting subjects.
